Melissa Houghton
Melissa Houghton is a writer with over 10 years of experience in copywriting and content. A hospitality and travel expert, she has stayed at 160+ properties, ranging from Michelin-ranked resorts to hostels and Airbnbs, and has visited 25 countries (and counting). Over the course of her career, Melissa has crafted 2,500+ content assets, including landing pages, website pages, and blog articles. She has also managed and created content for award-winning global higher education institutions like New York University, Columbia Business School, and the New York Film Academy. She was also chosen to present at Yale School of the Environment at Yale University, sharing her insight on content creation and food waste. Melissa is currently pursuing her MA/MSLIS at NYU and holds a BA in Film and Media Studies from Temple University. Her academic work explores cultural anthropology through the lens of travel, food, and text. She has completed a competitive fellowship with the Carl Safina Center, a Zine Internship at NYU’s Bobst Library, and the Gardnier Fellowship at the B. Davis Schwartz Library at Long Island University. Through these roles, she strengthened her skills in content curation, digital archiving, research, sustainable practices, independent publishing, and travel writing. Melissa also publishes Driftyland, an independent quarterly zine that examines travel through inspiring films. At Oat Foundry, she draws on her background in B2B, B2C, and agency writing, along with project management experience, to oversee editorial across the website, blog, and social channels.
